THE THINKING BEEKEEPER

"Thinking is difficult, that's why most people judge"

This is a well known quote which has been attributed to Carl Jung. However, as is often the case with such quotes, it turns out that Jung never actually said it. However, he did say "Thinking is difficult, therefore let the herd pronounce judgment!".

 

The point, of course, is that thinking things through in any sphere of life often takes time and requires a lot of effort. It's often easier to simply make a superficial judgement, which in turn can become received wisdom - even when that judgement is wrong. This is particularly the case in beekeeping, with its high degree of complexity - involving both science and beekeeping skills. Sustainable beekeeping requires careful thought in what we do and how we do it. So, in this Section, we are palling a range of articles on the theme of "the thinking beekeeper".
